When Cloé was just nine years old, she had surgery at Health Sciences Centre Children's Hospital to remove a brain tumour.The surgery was a success, but her journey wasn't over. She was also experiencing focal seizures that continued despite trying several antiseizure medications.

To help find answers, Cloé became the first child in Manitoba to undergo stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG). Dr. Fomenko and Dr. McDonald from the Section of Neurosurgery performed the specialized procedure. This gave her neurology team, led by Dr. Xu, the information they needed to better understand where the seizures were starting and guide the next steps in her care.
